What is abortion? Abortion can be define as termination to end the pregnancy or the removal of the fetus. According to “eMedicine Health”, more than 40% of all women had end there pregnancy by abortion at some time in their reproductive lives (Trupin para. 1). That is approximately 121 million per year. Young women put their selves in a position where they had to end their pregnancy for numeral reasons. Some women end their pregnancy because of negative impact from others, financial instability, unwilling to be a single mother and put their own health at risk.
In 1973, the Roe V. Wade Case, Jane Roe, a pregnant women who challenge the constitutionality of Texas against abortion laws. The U.S Supreme Court legalize woman’s right to choose abortion to terminate the pregnancy, by been protected from the fourteenth amendment. According to Abortion Facts and Statistic, “nearly 11% of all abortion in the United States are performed in the second and third trimesters, and 89% are performed in the first trimester of pregnancy” (Abortion Facts and Statistic).There are three types of abortion procedures that could be done in the second trimester, there are dilation & curettage, dilation & evacuation and induction abortion. Most doctors use the dilation and evacuation procedure, also known as the D &E. The D & E procedure ends the pregnancy that involves the dilation of the cervix to remove the fetus. After the surgery, women go through several mental pauses. Such as irregular bleeding or spotting for the first 2 weeks and menstrual cramps. Also, most women go through hormonal changes as well such as sad relief, grieving or feeling guilty. For safety regulation, if women doesn’t want to go through the pregnancy it is best to get the procedure done within 8-12 weeks before it is too
