Part One: Background

Adult students are simply people over 25 who have elected to return to port-secondary education. They differentiate from your typical students in the facts that adult students on the whole have more life responsibilities and face unique challenges. This research project explores the negatives, the positives and some of the solutions of what adult students face when retuning to post-secondary education. I analyzed the most resent research that deals with adult education and I included those results along with the results from a study I conducted in 2016. The research I preformed is explained in better detail in part two.

This coincides with my results where no responders stated that once they graduate will use this degree to further their education, and 70% stated they would use it for a promotion with current employer or apply for a different job. The results point to adult students returning for financial reasons, whether that is an increase in pay with current employer of finding a job that has a higher financial return. This program is more welcoming to the majority of the students due to its key factors. If you still feel strained financially then consider working during the summer, more then 70% of adult students do (Sales, 2001, p.181). Adult students have couple realistic options; they can either be in school part time, or work reduced hours so they don’t feel overwhelmed and financially strained. Be careful, going to school full time and holding a full time job can be very daunting, that is why only 7% of adult students preform this hard task (Gower, 1997, p.35). Lot of it depends of what you find valuable in life. If you go to school for financial reasons or to gain knowledge then most likely you will achieve your goal, that is if you follow my advice but do not believe all this will come with ease and without
