Animal experimentation Hypothesis My hypothesis for animal experimentation was that doing experimentation on animals is unfair for the animals and should not be done. There are two viewpoints that can be discussed for this topic these are the opinions of an animal rights activist and a scientist. The two main questions that I will discussing in this report is “What are the advantages and disadvantages of animal experimentation?” and “What are the advantages and disadvantages of alternative methods that could be used instead?” After further researching this topic my opinions stayed the same. This book told me about the Animal Welfare Act 1999 which a law tells us that animals need to be provided with proper and sufficient food, they also need to provide animals with decent shelter, give animals an opportunity to behaviour in its normal way, also animals need to be handled in a way where they are not being caused pain or distress and finally they need to be protected from injury or illness. It is also an offence to manipulate animals unless the follow the ethical conduct that is approved by the Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Most of the information that this book contains is part of the law so the information is probably accurate. However there could have been a change in the law from 1999 to now which means this book could potentially outdated. The book was published by the ministry of education so the information is probably accurate as the author probably has an idea about the topic. This source also told me that the results gathered from testing done on animals will be more accurate as most of the substances tested will be more accurate compared to the results gathered from animal experimentation as most substances tested on animal only work on animals and they don’t often work on
