Would you want to be taken away from your life and family to be abused, poisoned, and scared? Probably not. Well about 100 million animals tested in US labs are hurt, killed, or poisoned in some type of way. Animal testing is a worldwide problem, and it needs to stop. While you may think that it is beneficial for helping illnesses and making sure products do not harm humans, it can actually do the opposite. First of all, animals are different from humans, so testing on them will not be accurate. According to odyssey.com, animals tested in labs have different genetics and metabolisms, which will make the test results untrue. This is also proven by The National Center for Biotechnology Information. They say that testing on these animals is invalid because of there different genetics, and people should start questioning how useful the tests are. Overall, testing on animals is not even useful in most cases, so why test on them. Secondly, testing on animals is actually hurting the animals. For example, crueltyfreeinternational.org says that some animals are forced to breathe toxic gases, have needles stuck in them, or having their organs taken out while being tested on. Also, in a study by Shaoni Bhattacharya she says that in 2004 about 140,000 people in the United States suffered heart attacks by taking Vioxx, which was an anti inflammatory drug launched in 1999. When the drug, Vioxx, was being tested, it passed the animals but did not have positive results on humans.
