Every year 100 million animals are used for animal testing. Many people test different scientific and other commercial products on animals. This is called animal testing. Animal testing has helped save many lives although it has also harmed many animals. Many tests worked well on animals, but then when tried on humans did not work. There is a lot of evidence supporting both sides.
Many people believe that animal testing is not necessary. To begin with, over eighty five vaccines failed in humans after being tested on animals and, over 100 stroke drugs that were effective on animals have also failed on humans. A 2009 survey shows that rats and mice who underwent painful procedures, such as burn experiments, spinal surgeries, and skull surgeries were only provided with pain relief after the procedure 20% of the time. This proves that animals are treated worse than humans because they are not always given pain medication. The AWA(Animal Welfare Act)allows animals to be brain damaged, shocked, poisoned, isolated, burned, and addicted to drugs. This clearly shows that people think they can just hurt animals.
