The largest part of making a convincing argument is the facts that are presented. So, to start off, the simplest question should be asked: what is an assault weapon? Well, the Merriam-Webster definition is “any of various intermediate-range, magazine-fed military rifles (such as the AK-47) that can be set for automatic or semiautomatic fire; also : a rifle that resembles a military assault rifle but is designed to allow only semi-automatic fire” (“Assault Rifle”). This is the technical definition of an assault weapon, and yet the debate over what an assault rifle really is continues to swell in both size and intensity. After all, a “technical definition” can only go so far; thus, people have created their own definitions. These items can be used to “enhance” a gun by changing how the gun looks or sounds when fired. There is large debate on whether or not these items should be banned, given that they could lead to more deaths and violence. While this addresses some of the questions that are brought up concerning gun violence and gun control, there are still many more things to be asked, such as the who’s, what’s, where’s, when’s, and why’s that come with gun control. To start off, the “who” needs to be answered. Who is killing people? Who is dying? Who should be held accountable? All of these questions can be answered, but it is no simple task. To most of these questions, there could be at least five answers that could all be considered correct. Who is killing?
