Recently the National Monument Bears Ears has been federally protected in the area of Utah. The natural formations and countless ancient aritfacts found within this area will be protected. For several groups with an interest in this National Monument is is a huge victory to get it protected, however, other groups are very opposed to the formation. This spectacular scene in Utah has so much more to it than what meets the eye. Bears Ears contains many natural and features and artifacts that truly makes it one of a kind. They believe it will now be protected by things that could destroy the landscape and ruin recreation. They also support that it will develop tourism and promote responsible recreation in this area. They claim that this sacred land contains their stories and is apart of their lives. They strive to make their voices heard in this situation. They claim that this will limit how the land in their area can be used within developing economical opportunities. In fact, this area is the most repressed in the state. Many opposed it because of local concern not being taken into consideration. Locals also believe that the federal government will not be able to employ enough staff to manage and police such a sizable area.
