Being Arab is not something that is practices it is a way of life. It is not something that someone chooses to be, you are either Arab or not. The majority of Arab people come from places in Africa, Europe and Asia, the primary language spoken is Arabic and most are not Muslim. The majority or Arab American’s have immigrated to America from other countries or have been born in America due to their families immigrating some time ago. According to the book Racial and Ethnic Groups, there are different levels of being Arab and that some Arabs consider themselves more or less Arab (Schaefer, 2015). I believe that the majority of Americans lump Muslim and Arabs into the same category and are fearful that they are all extremist and terrorists. Furthermore, I believe that the majority of American’s are fearful of Muslims and Arabs and are unaware that Islam is a peaceful religion that promotes the wellbeing of others. I believe, that with any religion that there are extremists and that the Islam religion is the same. That this misconception will continue until we as a nation can employ some new ways to educate the people and remove the fear of being Muslim. In addition, helping to remove some of the misconceptions like all Muslims are Arabs, if one is not Islam they will go to hell, women are confined to houses, and Muslims reject Jesus will help to remove some of the fear associated with being …show more content…

I would encourage all Americans to educate themselves on the differences of the two and to become more culturally aware. Additionally, I would go on a campaign and release commercials informing the general public of the differences and teach society to not be fearful of the unknown. Lastly, I would point of that the discrimination that the Muslims and Arabs are facing is no different than the discrimination and persecution that every race in America has faced at one point and remind them of what it felt like in hopes to raise some sympathy for the Arab and Muslim
