Bernie Sanders is a respected man throughout the state of Vermont. Sanders has been serving as Senator since 2006, and was formerly Vermont’s sole congressman in the House of Representatives for 16 consecutive years. Although Bernie Sanders has been working mostly as an independent throughout his years, he has decided to sway towards the Democratic Party with a twist of socialism while acting as a Presidential candidate. Democrats tend to take a more liberal stand on issues. They believe that the federal government should be more active in people's lives, especially focusing on those who are in need. Attending college is becoming more of a necessity when trying to acquire a decent or high paying job in society; high school diplomas are just not cutting it anymore. The price of college may seem outrageous to most but this did not stop the 20.2 million Americans who enrolled just this year. The price of college separates the strong from the weak. Those that excel in school and really have the drive to better themselves, will let nothing stand in their way. Whether these students have to work full time while going to school part time, or end up with loads of student debt, they will do what it takes to get a great education. Paying high prices for college, causes students to take it more serious and do their best because they want to get their money's worth. The degrading of a degree would most likely make finding a job just as difficult as it is now, if not harder. Not only is tuitionfree college going to affect the quality of school, but it will also take a toll on every American buying and selling stocks. Bernie Sanders’ plan to have Wall Street speculators pay taxes to create a free higher education in America will not be so “free”, at all. This tax would send the economy the opposite way Americans have been striving for. Senator Sanders plans to focus on taxing highfrequency traders but doing so would affect all investors in the market. Investors would have an extra charge on every share they invest in and this would ultimately reverse what has been improved in our economy and lower trading volume. “...when Sweden and France introduced such taxes in 1984 and 2012, respectively, trading volume in those countries declined significantly.
