Leonardo Da Vinci once said, "Water is the driving force of nature," and it is ringing to be true now more than ever. Bottled Water has become a commodity across the nation and because of it, we now have big corporations such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and Nestle selling us water for roughly six dollars a gallon when it takes only eleven cents to extract, process, and package. These corporations take huge risks in making money out of water, and have put the environment at stake as well as questioning the ethics of getting the water, and how safe it actually is to drink from plastic bottles. Most companies advertise their water to be pure, safe, clean, and healthy, but the plastic used for these bottles come from petrol chemical plants. This Swedish company reached an astonishing three and a half billion dollars in sales in 2008. Bottled Life, a documentary released in 2012, follows Nestle's main water sites, with a focus on Pakistan. Nestle pumps water out of a village somewhere there, and it is difficult for many people to get clean water. During an interview given, a resident shared that he had lived in this village (and even worked for Nestle) and had asked Nestle if they could build a pipe so they could have clean water, but Nestle declined. Because of this, many people, including little kids, don't have access to clean water and are dying from unsafe conditions of drinking unclean, dirty, water. And this is just one small village. A documentary such as this question the ethics and morality behind this industry and brings up a valid argument - is the production of water bottles for developed countries more important than providing clean water for villages like in Pakistan? In my opinion, big companies like Nestle have a responsibility to do good and make an impact throughout the world. Water should be a right
