Have you ever wondered how pollution, or more specifically how fossil fuels add to the effects of global warming? Fossil fuels are organic hydrocarbons formed from the remains of dead animals and plants which have decayed for millions of years, there are three main types coal, oil and natural gas. These fossil fuels have been the biggest source of energy to date, oil being the most used in today's date for motor vehicles however it was is the biggest source of energy today, coal was discovered first and has been used since 1,000 BC however it was in the 1800s that it replaced biomass as the primary source of energy. Yet massive consumption of fuel didn't start until the early 1900s. Despite being a natural source these fossil fuels have greatly …show more content…
Secondly, they very little fuel from machines to burn them which allows us to produce large amounts of energy without investing a large amount of energy in the production of energy itself. Thirdly oil can be transported through the use of pipes, allowing it to be transported easily to power stations safely and efficiently without a great deal of hassle. Also the growing industry provides many stable jobs. However, even with these advantages, there are many disadvantages of burning fossil fuels such as fossil fuels are nonrenewable source of energy as they were naturally formed millions of years ago therefore these sources of energy will eventually run out.The most obvious pollution, which is caused by the release of carbon dioxide, methane, sulfur dioxide and nitrous oxide into the atmosphere due to the burning of fossil fuels. These greenhouse gases contribute to global warming as they prevent heat from escaping the atmosphere. As a result over years, these gases slowly begin to build up in our atmosphere inhibiting the release of heat into the solar system causing earth to become warmer which is evidently affecting wildlife, temperatures and weather around us negatively, such as the melting of ice all over the world which indicates these climates are getting hotter as a result of global warming which is a danger for all living organisms in this planet, as ice melting causes increase water levels which will increase flooding level. The carbon dioxide produced is also killing humans slowly in the form of lung cancer, respiratory diseases, stroke etc. as we are inhaling polluted air into our lungs due to the a increase in the amounts of carbon dioxide released into the air around us and decrease in the number of trees
