Imagine being forced into war as a child younger than the age of fifteen. Imagine a child losing their entire family and having no shelter, absolutely no where to go, and no place to call home. When they try to go look for shelter, they are taken into custody, abused, and forced to do such terrible things no child should ever have to even think about. At this age, one is still considered a child. Recently, the case of child amnesty has drawn attention to the United Nations, and there is a tremendous dispute as to if they should be forgiving children of war. When a child has seen the horrible accounts taken into being in war, and the horrendous background of enslavement, being prosecuted isn’t the answer. The answer is to let them fix themselves, or recieve help in order to fix themselves. Years later he was taken to a rehabilitation center and has gone to become a semi-famous musician,” (Invisible Children). This very clearly proves that restoring ones regular self and rehabilitating is crucial in order to be put back into society. It also evidently helps to achieve something bigger in life rather than being hung on the horrible accounts of being a child soldiers. Also an article written by the United Nation reporters prove, “That children should be held accountable for their crimes during conflicts was acknowledged by the report, but “more effective and appropriate methods, other than detention and prosecution are encouraged, enabling children to come to terms with their past and the acts they committed,’” (United Nations).This shows that it is scientifically proven that getting help and rehab is more effective than being prosecuted.
