Good day everyone, my name is Salene Mohammed. Before I introduce my topic, I would like to begin with a thought. There is a virus, which has gained access to schools by means of cyber-space. This virus is quickly spreading around the world and it is very easy to contract. Carriers spread this virus through every negative post made in an effort to hurt their targeted victims. Carriers of this virus can be the least alleged of people since the age of social media allows one to work anonymously. They are motivated by hatred, anger, and envy towards their victim. Unfortunately, the effects of the carriers are only seen in due time on their victims and these effects include depression and in some cases suicide. But there is a way to fight against this virus and it is hope, compassion, bravery and courage. (CHANGE SLIDE) Today, my fellow classmates, I will be presenting on ‘cyber bullying’. My purpose is to inform you about cyber bullying, but more specifically about the nature of cyber bullying and what to do should you become a victim of this crime. I have also personally chosen to speak on this topic because of the growing statistics showing an increase in suicide as a result of cyber-bullying among adolescents, mainly girls. Have any of you ever been bullied before? … Well I certainly have, I have been called names such as anorexic and toothpick; and yes, it has hurt me in the past but with great friends around me I was able to build enough courage to overcome this
