In simple terms, dairy is any food made from the milk products of animals, or produced in the mammary glands. Lactose is a type of sugar contained in any mammal’s milk and all humans are born with an intolerance to it. This is caused when the body does not produce enough of the lactase enzyme to break down the lactose. Ironically, milk, cream, butter, cheese and yogurt are all derived from dairy. Dairy has also been linked to being one of the causes of skin conditions such as acne, which affects more than eighty percent of teenagers. Milk proteins such as whey and casein release IGF-1 which increases the production of sebum in your skin, which clogs your pores and creates inflammation. Dairy When we consume dairy products, especially milk, cows are often injected with a growth hormone called rBGH to increase their milk production.
