The Pros And Cons Of Drug Overdose

In the next hour, 8 more Americans will die of drug overdose. It is an absolute necessity that we do all we can to bring this number down as much as possible. There are many alternatives to opioids including Medical Cannabis, Ketamine, and a mixture of Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen. With the use of these drugs we can not only help wean people off opioids but also keep people off of them in the first place.
The longer we wait to do something the more people will die, From 2000 to 2016 over 600,000 people in the U.S. alone have had their lives taken due to prescription painkillers and heroin. Cannabis is not only physically impossible to overdose on, but is also a non addictive, natural resource that you can use and not only get the pain relief and relaxation, but also the high that many people who want to take painkillers are after. It has proven medical benefits for a plethora of problems including Pain, Anxiety, Depression, Migraines, Loss of Appetite, Insomnia, and the list goes on, this is what I personally believe could be a very very big part of ending the opioid crisis. However as it is not legal in many U.S. States, many wouldn't dare do it and run the risk of getting arrested, there's also Ketamine, a drug used as an anesthetic that could also provide the high as well as the relief many people are after. It is much less addictive than opioids and you would have to take copious amounts to overdose. However your tolerance to Ketamine goes up very fast if you're not careful with it, meaning you have to take much more the 10th time to feel the same as you did the 1st time. Other Alternatives include Tylenol and Ibuprofen, This has been proven to help with the pain many suffer from however there's no high and as sad as it seems that's what most people are after therefore I (personally) do not believe this would play a big part unless its with
