Essay On Restricted Professionalism

During the lecture on Monday, the idea of restricted professionalism and extended professionalism was identified and explored. It was within these two modes of professionalism, I began to make distinct reference to my own experiences. From the lecture restricted personality can be seen as an individual who engages infrequently with reading of professional literature, there is a limited involvement in professional development and that work is seen as just something they must do in order to earn a living. While those who are seen as extended professionals are seen as the complete opposite in which they continuously collaborate with their peers in order to improve their pedagogies while also engage in regular reading of professional literature. Analysis/Comment: I found that from my own experiences on school placement I have experienced both types of professionals. One of my colleagues, was always so interested to hear about the new practices and methods being produced by UL and assailed by their students. He often looked for advice on particular software in which we may have received more training in than them. Nor was my colleague afraid to ask for help either such that he can improve his own content knowledge and also pedagogies in order to assail the most effective pedagogical content knowledge in his classes.
