The concept of genetic engineering was started by the Nazi’s. It all begin with a thought of the ideal human, which consisted of blond hair, blue eyes, and Arian. In other words, Nazi’s were trying to use genetic engineering to create the dominate race. As years go on, results from genetic engineering emerged and they were helpful, however, there were negative results. These concerns make negative points towards genetic engineering, which makes people not want to have further development in the study of genetic engineering. The main problem people have is the thought of playing god. Genetic engineering consist of man making new law and some people believe this is a sin because god should be the only one in control of making life. Besides the moral and religious issue, there are physical issue that come along with genetic engineering. When people undergo genetic alteration, there can be a major health concern and unknown health risks. In addition, when plants and animals become genetically modified there can be problems in their immune system and other organs. Furthermore, this can potentially harm the environment, especially because scientist do not know what will happen to the world’s health in the long run. An example of genetic engineering gone wrong is Frankenstein, who was created a creature by assembling different body parts from different individuals together. “ The dissecting room and the slaughter-house furnished many of my materials; and often did my human nature turn with loathing from my occupation, whilst, still urged on by an eagerness which perpetually increased, I brought my work near to a conclusion” (Frankenstein). In the end, the invention of the creator was a disaster because the monster killed many of Frankenstein’s loved ones to get revenge.
