Giving a child up for adoption is the right thing to do, if you are unable to care for them. According to Wikipedia adoption is a process whereby a person assumes the parenting of another (adoption, 2015). Many people are forced to make in challenging decisions, one of these would be giving a child up for adoption if they feel they are unable to care for the child sufficiently or are not ready to start a family. I believe that if someone feels this way they should give their child up for adoption to ensure the child a better life, while changing someone else’s life forever. However giving you child up for adoption does have negatives. There are emotional, physical and mental effects that the birth parents will feel. The birth parents most often will feel a deep sense of loss (Croswell, 2013), as well as grief almost as if they had actually lost their child. The parents might also feel judged for going against the grain and then feel cut off from society. The families of the birth parents could also not be supportive of their decisions and could also cut them off which could add the emotional strain of giving up their baby and not being supported. Race can also be a big problem when adopting a child as if you adopt a child of a different race when they get older they can feel out of place and unsure of where they belong. …show more content…

If you are unable to care for your child or feel that you are not ready for a family, adoption is the best answer. In the long run the birth parents who are have decided to give their child up for adoption would be doing this for the betterment for their child and ultimately because they love their child and want the best for the child even if that means not keeping the child and raising it as their own.
