Throughout history, especially recently, the question of whether gun control violates the 2nd Amendment has been a question which many people claim they know the answer to, but it may not be that transparent. I believe gun control is constitutional, and it deters crime and makes society safer, meaning I side with the pro-gun control ideas. Within the topic of gun control, there are many factors in which people must take into consideration when proposing an answer such as whether it deters crime, what the economic impact is, and what should be changed. The issue over whether or not it is constitutional for the government to restrict the ability to buy or keep guns has been argued for many years. Debates often flare up because of a tragedy in which someone goes on a rampage with guns and kills or injures multiple people. People who are against gun control claim that the Second Amendment gives them the right to own firearms; however, the Constitution only gives collective rights to possess guns rather than individual. Everyone has the liberty of the second amendment but it seems that some people are trying to take that away. There are pro-gun control activists that believe there should be more rules and regulations in place in order to own a gun to cut down on the number of shootings and violent crimes. The Second Amendment, and the regulations already in place, are more than enough to establish who is allowed to own a gun. Taking guns away from the civilians won’t fully eliminate mass shootings.
On the right, gun ownership is sometimes venerated and defended with zealous devotion. On the left, guns are sometimes seen as inherently terrifying (perhaps even as mechanical monsters whose very existence threatens life and limb). I, however, prefer to approach the matter of guns by attempting to follow a general principle that can be used to sort out what should be allowed and what should restricted. As noted above, the main argument for restricting specific gun liberties or rights is to reduce or prevent harms that would be more likely to occur without restrictions.
Advocates of each side of the gun control debate have been around ever since the Second Amendment was ratified in 1791. In recent years the debate has gained more followers and has gotten much more heated. Each side has valid points and ideas that they would like to see incorporated into a new form of gun control or lack thereof. The Second Amendment to the US Constitution is necessary because people should have the right to keep and bear arms to protect themselves. However necessary the Second amendment is, to protect American citizens from gun violence, gun control needs to be improved.
Are guns really the reason people kill or start violence?the answer is no, guns cannot Control a person's mind. A person is who pulls the trigger, guns cannot do that themselves. Gun control and background checks should be reduced. The gun is not what kills, people kill. People control their own actions, guns or any types of weapon does not control that persons mind on weather to kill or to not kill.
Gun control proponents obviously must not be students of history. There is an old proverb that says, when people do not learn from history, they are doomed to repeat it. They seem to forget a time in America’s past when we tried something very similar to gun control. It was called the “Prohibition”. When I was a kid I wanted to become a police officer. I thought they were so cool with black uniforms, guns, and tasers. This was when I was the age of seven, but I have wised up since then. When I heard that it was being talked about whether or not police should be the only people allowed to have guns, I did some research. I saw a source on the internet that stated the police killed 161 unarmed people in the United States alone last year.
Gun control has been a very prevalent problem in today’s society. Opinions on whether to be stricter on the gun laws or not, has made Americans choose a side. There have been plenty of mass shootings just over the past ten years alone. In my opinion, the most infamous massacre over the past 10 years was the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. For my generation, this kind of sparked the mass media attention in regard to school/ mass shootings.

Nowadays, there are a lot of the extensively arguments, especially in the United states, whether the policies should carry guns. Recently, this argument is widely raised due to news of the police shooting the innocent people extremely effects the negative opinion to them. Someone opines that if the policies are allowed to carry guns, they will have a high tendency to make more crimes. On the other hand, the police having a gun will decrease crimes. However, in my opinion, the polices should have or carry guns while they are on duty with the limitation of the power of using guns As I mentioned above, the guns is still extremely needed for the police on their duty.
Recent events leading to the deaths of many American citizens are likely enough for people to strive for the addition of stricter gun control, although such action may really be meaningless and infringe upon the core rights established by the country’s founders themselves. American citizens are currently armed with privately-owned guns to protect their freedom. If used properly, private gun ownership is beneficial to those who want to feel safer personally owning firearms. This stance portrays the fact that some values of gun control may help such as more extensive background checks, but ultimately it is a futile attempt that will lead to a minimal affect on modern society. In theory, the abolishment of guns would not have an effect on the levels of gun-related violence as gun control laws do not deter crime; the improper use of guns and firearms falling into the hands of the mentally-ill and unstable deters crime.
Guns are just a tool, like knives and hammers and it completely depends on the people on how they use it. People who support guns and arms say that the Second Amendment secures individual’s right to carry guns with them and that gun rights is needed for self-protection, and was intended for military to have peace and defend the country if needed (Spitzer, 70). Most of the Americans use guns as a source to protect themselves and they believe that gun ownership prevents crime. A study conducted on November 26, 2013 showed that bans on weapons did not significantly affect murder rates at the state level (Lane, 5). Moreover, even if the rules and regulations are executed on gun control, not all criminals obey the law.
