Closed-minded people are the reason why hate groups are still so popular today. A hate group is “an organization whose primary purpose is to promote animosity, hostility, and malice against persons of or with a race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender, or gender identity which differs from that of the members or the organization” (Crime Statistics Management Unit, and Law Enforcement Support Section). In 2016, there are about 892 hate groups in the United States. Some examples of hate groups are the Ku Klux Klan, White Nationalist/Separatist, Neo-Nazi, Neo-Confederate, Black Separatists, Anti-Muslim, and Anti-LGBT.

In reality, those terrorist who call themselves Muslims are not Muslims because they are polluting Islam by twisting and turning it to give themselves an excuse to conduct violence and unjust against others. No matter what religion someone has, people have no right to attack them. As long as it is ethically/morally okay, it doesn’t matter what they believe in. Whether they are going to affect you in a positive or negative way is what matters.
There are a number of reasons why people want to join hate groups. People, especially younger people, want a place to fit in. Those hate groups sugar coat things and treat a recruiter like they matter to lure in the people who are desperate to fit in. That’s how some gangs lure in children into their gang. Any person from any background can join a hate group even doctors and lawyers join hate groups.
Because those hate groups are closed-minded, they hate what they cannot understand. However, they might not want to bother to learn about what they do not understand. When closed-minded people hate, it can lead to discrimination and violence. If children are taught at a young age that there is only one race, the human race, they might grow up to not separate people by how they look and treat them differently. One way to eliminate hate groups is to teach kids at a young age to be open-minded about things that include religions, cultures, genders, and sexual orientations.
