In comparison with the new 2016 presidential campaign race, democratic frontrunner, Hillary Clinton will use similar racially-charged tactics to retain the Black minority vote. Unlike Obama, Hillary is a white presidential candidate; therefore, she can strategically garner the majority of Black votes because of the lack of African-American democratic candidates in the presidential race. Instead, Clinton will use the absence of said democratic candidates for her advantage. The Clinton campaign, similarly to the Obama campaign, is able to earn the trust, admiration, and support of Black voters through the use of their socioeconomic hardships. For instance, the Hillary Clinton tactfully is using the Black plight and issue of police brutality to her presidential advantages. He writes: “Hillary Clinton met privately Monday evening in Chicago with the families of young black people who were killed by police officers…the participants included…the mother of Michael Brown and the mother of Tamir Rice…the criminal justice reform has become a key pillar of Clinton’s campaign as she seeks to appeal to black voters (MSNBC). The previous quote exposes how Clinton is using the criminal justice reform as a platform to attract the African-American minority vote.
