Homeless veterans battle to survive in their homeland. This is one of the major issue discussed among the representatives in the houses of congress. Veterans struggle to adapt to their life at home as they return from war. The United States has fought in wars ever since we established our country from the revolutionary war to the wars we are currently fighting today. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan brought renewed attention to the needs of veterans; including the needs of homeless veterans. America has promised veterans good care and benefits in return for their service to the nation; on the contrary, an estimate of 1.7 million uninsured veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as veterans from the Vietnam and Persian Gulf wars were unable to get the promised support (CITE). Veterans who returned from the battlefield suffers physical and emotional damage. These damages are caused from explosions, exchange of gunfires with enemies, lack of sleep, and being vigilant at all times. These were crucial times to survive. These events leads the pathway for veterans to homelessness. Most homeless veterans seek assistance from the VA but were turned away. Some become tired from waiting, while others avoid dealing with diagnostic treatments or pay copayment for visiting doctors; instead they choose the life …show more content…

Therefore, the congress has created numerous programs that serve homeless veterans specifically, almost all of which are funded through the Veterans Health Administration of the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). The Capitol Hill of Congress partnered up with the Veterans Affairs office to find the solution to end homelessness among veterans. There are three main solutions to alleviate the numbers of homeless veterans which is to provide a health care, housing, and employment or job training
