Immigration is not a new concept; on the contrary, it’s what established this country. The founding fathers were immigrants themselves, or they were descended from them. Instead of defending our borders from people just like our founders, we should be open and welcoming to them because “It would be a tragedy if America were to turn toward a false sense of security just when… the real solution is so obvious from our own American heritage” (Johnson and Kane). Firstly, immigrants are not a threat to our borders, so refusing to let them enter doesn’t advantage us in any way and would only, as Johnson and Kane said, give us a false sense of security.
