Immigration law refers to the regulations set in by the fedral government for determining who is allowed to enter the country, and for how long they may stay. It also conrolls the naturalization process for those who desire to become U.S citizens. Lastly, when a foreign individuals enter without permission, overstay their visit,or otherwise lose their legal status, immigration law controls how the detention and removal proceeding will be carried out. There are three agencies who are in charge of overlooking these areas. Immigration Custom Enforcement (ICE) looks into who breaks laws, and puts them on trial. There are at least 41 million immigrants residing in the Unites States. This number compromises about 13 percent of the Unites States population. Statistics estimate that about 11.5 million of the 47 million immigrants are in fact illegal. What most people don’t realize is the defeniton of an “illegal immigrant” is veiled by the simple fact that most of these immigrants arrive into the country on legal terms, but tend to overstay their legally permited stay. This is because we have a very rich history of embracing immigrants from all over the world. Today however it is very different; most people are angry about these people coming to our country. Though there is no refusing the fact that immigrants bring a tremendous amount of culture richness and diversity. Immigrant communities bring traditional practices, rituals and wisdom from abroad that help inform and uplift American culture. Eastern knowledge helps us intensify our understanding of spirituality. Things such meditation, yoga, and qigong are knows as the ancient eastern arts that help oneself to connect with the soul. In the similar way that the Bible teaches one to “know thyself” Asian spiritual teaching offer the same path toward that spirutial goal. As our knowledge for these teaching broadens, our culture is being supplemented with a better perspective of religion and faith. Another unique way immigration benefiets the society is through their traditional cuisines that teaches us about proper diet. With so many different options, the most simple quetsion “of what to eat?” has become very difficult to answer. Most traditional cuisines are whole methods for consuming that give a person the full range of nutrition needed to thrive.
