Information systems are the combination of various technological systems used by organizations to collect, process and analyze data and information on a daily basis within the organization. Systems are usually dependent on others to fulfill optimally their complete roll for a given transaction. More often than not other systems run on a redundancy which serves as a backup if the main system malfunctions. These systems comprise of both hardware and software to make it complete and functional.
Hardware Enterprise expanded its operations across geographical boundaries, hence, it is imperative that management explores the use of information systems in a bid to ensure as best as possible that its operations and transactions are accurately recorded …show more content…

Mentzer, William Dewitt, James S. Keebler, Soonhong D. Smith and Zach G. Zachariah (2001) posited that Supply Chain Management is the network of organizations that are involved through upstream and downstream linkages, in the different processes and activities that produce value in the form of products and services delivered to the ultimate consumer. Though Hardware Enterprise is not a group of different organizations, they are located in different locations across the island and also on different islands in the Caribbean; therefore, it is safe to imply that the functionalities would those similar to multiple organizations attempting to supply good and services to their consumers. The Supply chain management systems (SCMS), would facilitate and integrated approach across all locations, and the flow of goods and services to its suppliers and consumers. SCMS would assist Hardware Enterprise in the assembling of orders in a cohesive manner. The request would be uploaded/inputed into the system indication all specifications, for example, the timeline for delivery, delivery locations, and customer specification. This provides automation of tasks and functions that would usually be manual for example, sales, cash deposits, payroll transactions and higher purchase agreements.
The TPS would allow for payroll to be centralized and facilitating bank deposits as against writing of manual checks. Secondly, it would supply data to assist management in the decision making process. This would be linked to the inventory management system and provides consolidated data. Team members would therefore spend less time counting and recording stock manually whilst management will be able access this data from any location. This would reduce travel cost and time away from base. Lastly, it assists in processing transactions based on prerequisites entered into the system. Based on the fact that Hardware Enterprise expanded its operation no just island wide but also the wider Caribbean, the TPS would provide an avenue for analyzing transactions in batches either by item or by location; logging of transactions that took place at a particular (trend identification); formatting, storage and printing or consolidated
