The topic I have decided to address is one of the numerous political problems that we as a nation face and their concerns must be addressed. This issue started with the House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) and Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) are asking President Obama to force Congress to cut wasteful Washington spending and pledging bipartisan support for this critical effort. In a letter to the President, the GOP leaders ask him to invoke his authority under the Impoundment Control Act of 1974 to submit specific proposals rescinding spending already in place. For if it was a perfect then there is nothing left. There is no room for the imagination. No place left for a person to gain additional knowledge and abilities. As humans it is our job to create things more wonderful than anything before them, but never to obtain perfection within this life. Now that I have made it clear that Job Corps is not a perfect thing but needs to be improved on I will explain which areas need to focused on and why. First off they don’t have a curriculum that’s a regionally accredited, which is considered the highest form of accreditation given to institutions.
They should focus on creating a program which offers this to the students to lure them into the program and to entice them to expand their horizons with moving forward to pursing a higher degree. Currently right now the Job Corps center is sitting at a 60 percent of the enrollees that were high school dropouts and with this information they should be focused on creating an environment to inspire them to continue their education. It stands to this date on average that 10-12 percent of the graduates actually pursue a higher education after leaving the program.
This percentage should be a lot higher for the taking in consideration the amount of students which enrolls each year. With the amount of people that are accepted and enrolled each year being around 60,000 people into the program. The people who actually pursue a higher education is less than 10,000. It currently sits at 7200 people which are a 12 percent mark of the 60,000 people who originally enrolled into the program. I believe that it should be a higher percentage for the following reasons there goals are to one get people into pursuing a higher education system or training system. Two it also strives to provide broader opportunities for higher wages and career advancement. They should strive to have at least 25-35
