Many societies must consider an appropriate voting age for their citizens. The American people are facing a predicament regarding this decision. While the current voting age is 18, many insist the legal age be lowered to 16. Many also overestimate the capabilities of todays youth. Lowing the voting age would result in a staggering amount of cons for society. Most children in our society do not possess the responsibility it requires to make choices for people unlike themselves. We live in a country where we are fortunate enough to provide safe and comfortable living for most children. They can be more concerned with learning about themselves rather than others.
