The NSA has justified their actions by saying the surveillance helps them with threats to the US, however the US citizens are the ones who are being surveillance, which is saying the US citizens are the threat to the United States of America. Technology greatly increased the amount of surveillance and has made it simpler in both corporate surveillance and government surveillance. Corporate surveillance has increased from a minimal amount to maximal information. Corporations have always gathered information of people but collected only what was necessary because it was hard and expensive to collect a great deal of information, but nowadays with the advance in technology it has become easier and less expensive. Corporations are now able to collect more information in a shorter amount of time and are able to be stored it for a longer amount of time using technology. Government Surveillance has been transformed from individually targeting one person to having surveillance on every single person in America whether he or she is a foreigner or a U.S citizen.
