Society today depends on the internet, we use it every day. We see the Internet being used in schools, workplaces, and homes. The Internet has one law that protects it, Net Neutrality. Currently, there is a situation with the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) decision to terminate Net Neutrality and let Internet service providers (ISP’s) do whatever they want with the Internet they provide. There are two sides to this controversy, the side that agrees with the FCC and the side that disagrees with the FCC. One side may be bigger in population than the other but the other side still exists. That Net neutrality is whats blocking the government from protecting the internet. According to the CEO of USTelecom, "The Federal Communications Commission’s actions to extract itself from net neutrality enforcement clears a path for one set of uniform and consistent protections that consumers can count on across the entire internet. Specifically, the FCC is making way for a new sheriff — the Federal Trade Commission." (Spalter) The Right side is basically saying that Net Neutrality is blocking the Government from protecting the entirety of the actual internet. Restricting our access to certain Internet content. For example, you just want to want a good show on Netflix, But you have to add more on top of your monthly payment due to your Internet provider charging you to use the internet. As an example, instead of a casual $6.99, it will go up to $8.99 because you have to use the Internet in order to use Netflix. Sure, if Net Neutrality is terminated, we will have a better grasp on the internet, not allowing the government tell us what to do. Ajit Pai, The Chairman of the FCC has made a huge mistake, in my opinion, my generation of teenagers hate him with a passion.
