Physician-assisted suicide and euthanasia has been becoming more prevalent since the early 1990’s. Although the practice has been around for many years, the topic has recently become the reason for many studies and debates on whether the practice is morally ethical to the patient. The patients that are terminally ill or have incurable disabilities or diseases should have the right to chose to either die with dignity or die a slow, painful death. Physician-assisted suicide, by definition, is the voluntary ending of one's own life by administration of a lethal dose of a substance with the direct or indirect assistance of a physician. When it comes to aiding someone with ending their life, some medical professionals cannot fathom the thought of helping to take the life of their patients. The thought of someone wanting to end their own life comes once a patient finds that they are unable to take care of themselves, or have become too much of a burden on their families. As a result, those patients start to rationalize the termination of their own life with the help of a doctor.
