Imagine this: you are in a car on a peaceful ride when all of a sudden you hear yelling. On the side of the road someone is attacking a police officer. The officer is trying to gain control without hurting the person. Two seconds go by and you are too far away from the action. You will never know what happened next. The United States has thousands of police officers that would do almost anything to defend their country. There are many challenges faced in our world today and the police go through a lot of work. The United States citizens should not fear the police officers protecting them.
Our police officers are faced with many different circumstances throughout each day. Some of these situations include interactions between the mentally disabled, criminal suspects, and drunks (Bier). These people are, most times, extremely unstable and the results can be hard to predict. When it comes to the point of arrest, there are sometimes physical confrontation, assault, and even the occasional injury (Bier). This can make the job of a police officer very tough, and sometimes it is hard to go through the struggles of dealing with so many people.
