I disagree with the way the parents raise their Afghan girls. This is because raising a girl as a boy would lead to inner conflict for the child, who has to weigh the desire to be themselves against their desire to please their parents and this would eventually lead to identity confusion and acting out. The only pro in my opinion is that they have access to education because their gender has been changed. But the cons are when children are born they learn the attitudes and behaviors that are appropriate for that gender. Unfortunately, when these girls are made to behave like a different gender sometimes acceptance into that gender can be hard because they are not boys therefore, they cannot fully identify as one and the boys and the boys might isolate them, while the girls will reject and tease them for trying to be a different gender. And this often times leads to loneliness and low self-esteem. Another con is when the girls are expected to change back to girls and get married. This could be very confusing, emotionally and psychologically draining for a girl that has lived and identified as male, she has learned to talk loud, fix and build …show more content…

And it terms of self-esteem, the Chinese mother goes straight to the point and tells her daughter to lose some weight and not be a fatty, which would produce a positive weight loss outcome. While the Western mother would try in many ways not to offend her daughter which would lead her to lose control over the child, and the child would eventually end up overweight, in therapy, and with negative self-image. In terms of achievement, I disagree with how Chinese parents push their children to the limit to achieve things. This is because although this yields results, they often times end up unhappy later in life. While the western parents’ guide their children, but without unrealistic
