For this research project, I plan to investigate self-driving cars and the mechanical obstacles as well as the ethical obstacles that stand in the way of fully automated cars becoming common on our roads. This topic that I have chosen is relevant to this year and age because the possibility of the automated car can become a reality and many companies such as Tesla, Toyota and Google are all working towards the self-driving car. Even ride-sharing services such as Lyft and Uber has started to pick up passengers with semi-automated cars. But the self-driving cars have many different conflicts and controversies surrounding them. Such as the “trolley problem” in Ethical Theory & Moral Practice it says that that self-driving car cannot be fully safe because of all the unpredictable occasions that happen when one drives a car. The author of this work is Belay and Nick their profession is unknown. This work is about the legal side of the self-driving cars and what problems it can cause. This source will help me see the logical and legal aspects of self-driving cars. My second source is Autonomous Cars Will Usher in Things We Never Saw Coming which was originally published in September 2016 as an internet article from the PC magazine. The author of this work is Car tech expert Doug Newcomb. This work is about the unforeseen aspects of self-driving technology and how we will encounter things we didn't see coming. This source will help me see both sides of the arguments that people might have. It also shows me a slightly more disturbing side to self-driving
