Should high-stakes standardized testing be required in every class at Monett High School? Most people would probably say that standardized testing shouldn’t be in all classes, if even in school at all, but it should be required in every class at Monett High School because standardized testing helps a student's education a lot more than people think. They may be difficult and you have to study for a long time but they do help students a lot. They will know what subjects they are good at and what they need help with when they see their scores and it helps them know what type of stuff they enjoy doing in the test and that helps them with career choices. The scores also make it easier to get into most colleges with your SAT scores rather than just your GPA. …show more content…

An article written by Colette Kemmerling about standardized testing called “The Pros of Standardized Testing” stated that standardized tests are, “effective in predicting a student’s future performance in higher education, in the military, and in the workforce.” In that same article it also says’ “Many colleges award credits to a student with a score of a 3(out of 5) or better. The credits may count toward a core requirement.” This allows students not have to take as many core classes and they can focus more on the classes for their career. The SAT scores also make it easier to get into most colleges because in that same article, “The Pros of Standardized Testing” by Colette Kemmerling, it was stated that, “A University in California study found that if the university did not require SAT scores from prospective students, they would have to raise their GPA to unrealistic expectations just to balance out the admissions process.” Without SAT scores it would be way more difficult to get into most colleges and that would cause lots of problems for students and their career
