On August 6, 1945, the U.S. made history with a fatal blow to the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki that ended WWII. To this day there is a controversy on whether the dropping of the atomic bomb, ordered by President Harry S. Truman, was justified or not, but in fact, it was. Thousands of Japanese would perish, but this act would, in turn, saved American lives and end the war. Throughout various battles, the Japanese consistently crossed lines of ethics of warfare, and in an attempt to bring justice and an end to the war Truman put forth a plan to bomb Japan. President Truman warned Japan of the upcoming attack and gave demands, but in the end, the Japanese denied those negotiations which led to the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The battle of Iwo Jima is another example that shows the numbers of American lives wiped off by the Japanese military. The Japanese military had to be stopped in order to save American lives. According to Document E, the invention of the atomic bomb gave the United States a more efficient way to end war against Japan, which meant the end of devastation received by the Japanese and saving American lives. On the contrary, some may argue that the United States’s decision to drop the atomic bomb on Japan was a diplomatic measure against the USSR.
If the bombs were not dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the United States would have lost at least one million American soldiers in a mainland invasion of Japan (Tucker, 5). That stated, dropping the bombs was the only viable option for sparing both American lives, as well as Japanese lives. The dropping of the bombs, albeit horrific, is justifiable because it saved millions of both American and Japanese lives, prevented the waste of valuable resources, and played a significant role in Japan's surrender. Dropping the bombs saved more lives than if the United States had done a land invasion (Walker, 5). If the war had been prolonged, the United States would have lost millions of lives (Tucker, 5); but the Japanese would also suffer.
First off, not disagree with the decisions of the president to drop atomic bombs in Nagasaki, Hiroshima. The reason why I disagree with the atomic weapons that were drawn in japan is because there were thousand of people who were killed, innocent peoples who died in that bomb drops. there were military men who died, but at the same time is was acceptable for united states to fight, and win the war. United states were discomforted the lost thousand of people, including military, 48,000 people from the united states, military, and innocent peoples. It was grave that the united states had thousands of life that are why they proposed the attack besides japan.
On August 6, 1945, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city, Hiroshima. This, in turn, killed over 90,000 people both before and after the collision and turned 4 square miles of the city into rubble. Now, the question that comes to mind; Was dropping the bomb on Hiroshima the correct thing to do? The answer I have come up with is that it was, in fact, a good decision. The bombing at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was unsuitable because the Japanese were ready to surrender.
In Hiroshima alone around 140,000 people were killed by the end of the year because of the bombing. In August 1945 President Truman decided to drop two atomic bombs on Japan. The U.S. shouldn’t have dropped the atomic bomb. Things would have been a lot different if they didn’t drop the bombs. Historians have been arguing that the atomic bombing didn’t lead to the Japan surrendering.
An estimated 40,000 were instantly killed, and 80,000 people were killed in total. On those days, many lives were lost, but the United States was fully justified in dropping these atomic bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. President Harry Truman’s decision to drop these bombs was justified because the Japanese surrendered, the bomb saved both Japanese and American lives, and the dropping of these bombs were necessary to shorten the war.
The US President Harry S.Truman believed that the use of atomic bombs would have forced Japan to surrender and end the war quickly saving millions of Americans lives that would have been lost in a land invasion of Japan. According to President Truman, the decision to use atomic bombs was made to save lives. He argued that the bombs would bring a quick end to the war and save the lives of American soldiers who would have lost their lives in a land invasion. In his speech announcing the bombing of Hiroshima, Truman stated that "the world will note that the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, a military base. That was because we wished in this first attack to avoid, insofar as possible, the killing of civilians."
