While it is obvious that our modern country is nothing like it was in 1776, is the growth we have experienced living up to the goals and ideals the Founding Fathers had for us? There is clearly two sides to this dilemma. Some say that our country is not the exact same but, that it is for the better, our country has grown in ways the Founding Fathers could have never predicted. Although this growth could have been unfathomable for our original founders, it is the growth we needed to progress and overall, positive for our country as a whole. Our growth is still in line with the values and ideas of the Founders. The other side to the argument may say our country has become corrupt and is now nothing like the Founding Fathers had intended. Each of these sides in the U.S are very opinionated and each are virtually unable to see the other’s side. It is important to know the growth we have experienced, along with the original ideas the Founding Fathers had for America. Abraham Lincoln once said, "Human nature will not change. In any future great national trial, compared with the men of this, we shall have as weak and as strong, as silly and as wise, as bad and as good. Let us therefore study the incidents in this as philosophy to learn wisdom from and none of them as wrongs to be avenged." While each of us may learn different things from history, it is still crucial to have that knowledge. With the knowledge of our founding and the ideas the Founding Fathers originally had, we are able to live up to the potential of being responsible citizens of America, even if we all interpret that different
