Producing is both ends of the spectrum, both creative and practical side of the film. 'The Producer' is the person who is responsible for getting the film made, and is responsible for hiring the screenwriters, director and other producers. Under the main producer is the executive producer, then associate producer, assistant producer, co- producer, supervising producers, coordinating producer and line producer. Producers work with the director and program manager on budgeting, scheduling and contracts in order to construct the financial budget. Producer's such as an Associate producer, supervising and coordinating producers are key to maintain a film's aim. Sometimes the title of Associate Producer is given to someone who may have made a significant contribution to the film's funding, but usually they would be involved in all areas of pre-production, including management, administration, talent and writing. A co-producer (or producers) would be a team that share responsibilities, some would be involved in the creative side, others would handle the budgeting. Supervising producer, may take the place of an executive producer, or the work, but they would supervise the production teams to keep them on schedule. Coordinating Producers, are concerned with the end result, and are responsible for making sure that the work of several producers to make the film unified. Producer's work hard during this stage so that filming is in no way impacted by anything that could have been solved just by careful planning. An Executive Producer is the one who does have a financial interest in the film, as they would be the ones who begin the production of a film, starting with funding, whether they need to organise fundraisers, gain the attention of film studios or use their own assets to get the film made. Therefore keeping in contact with the financial investors would become the main role of an executive producer, work after this point is done by other producers. This is the period where the script is planned and approved even before shooting begins. During this time the program manager and the director work closely to ensure accuracy, timeliness and budget details. All the creative ideas that the director has will effect the budget, logistical and quality. Similarly all the financial and logistical decision the program manager has would have an impact on the creative possibilities.
