One large area of controversy is how a GPS system and location data compare to one another and how they should be protected under the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution. Tracking an individual’s location data is just as invasive as tracking that individual with a GPS system. A major case that helped our understanding of the protection GPS systems have under the Fourth Amendment is United States v. Jones. In United States v.
