First and foremost, Vietnam wasn’t a declared war by congress and was a terrible thing for our soldiers. However, we did gain knowledge from fighting in Vietnam such as war tactics, learning how to fight in jungles, and what napalm does to humans. I don’t agree with why we went to Vietnam but I do know that Vietnam was a very bad thing for the U.S. Infantry because most of them ended up with serious injuries after the war. Thus, costing the United States billions of dollars through the U.S. Department of Affairs and billions of dollars through the U.S. Department of Defense. The United States never won the war and we were never supposed to win because the Vietnamese knew the jungle way beyond our knowledge. We lost people who could have cured …show more content…

The cons of the Vietnam wars was Napalm, Destroyed Villages, Young men dying, Prisoners of war, Landmines still in the jungles, Veterans with disabilities, Suicides from the war during and after, Costing the United States a lot of money, Stopped the chances from curing cancer or other diseases, and giving the Vietnamese children birth defects. I really don’t like talking about the Vietnam War because I believe that it was a very ugly war with bad intentions. I do need to write this essay about the Vietnam War but the reason why I don’t like talking about it is because of the suicides of the Veterans of the Vietnam War. Most Vietnam Veterans returned with disabilities such as missing limbs, PTSD, Brain Damage, Loss of vision and hearing, and missing fingers. The thing that gets me the most is the suicide of veterans I believe that no human being should have to go through the stress of war. It’s sad to see the suicides of the Vietnam War because most of the Veterans suffered PTSD. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is the worst thing that can happen to someone during a war because they can’t do anything about it except go to therapy classes and treatment classes.
