The Wild Boar is an invasive species that has been introduced to Southern U.S and California. Wild Boars were initially brought over to U.S by European settlers and eventually used for sport hunting. They are well known for transmitting diseases amongst various species and damaging crops grown on farmland, causing farmers to take action. Farmers have use the method of trapping to capture Wild Boar, using cages made out of heavy duty material. They are then able to sell the Wild Boar, generating a source of income for the farmers. Wild Boars were originally used as farm animals, but during economic depression and various political wars “families were forced to abandon their homesteads, leaving their pigs to fend for themselves” (Vess, 2016). Many pigs were then able to escape from domestic farms or transported around the country for hunting. These Wild Boars can now be found in various habitats, such as tropical rainforests and grasslands. But they mainly prefer to live in the deciduous forests, where there is an abundant source of vegetation to eat. Wild Boars have had a negative impact towards the ecosystem since being introduced. For example, when looking for food boars will use their tusks to dig and cut roots from trees; leading to soil displacement, erosion, and soil deterioration. In addition, rooting and wallowing causes damage towards fruit trees and trees raised for timber. Wild Boars also host different parasites that are transmittable to humans and other wildlife. “While the parasites may directly lead to death, in most instances they cause the animal’s health to deteriorate and they succumb to various environmental elements” (Wickline, 2017). Farmers have often stumbled across situations where Wild Boars have transmitted diseases to their livestock and damaged crops. Even though Wild Boars have caused destruction in the ecosystem, they do serve as food sources for tigers, wolves, bears, leopards, and
