Petrified for their lives, taking cover, saying goodbye to loved ones, buckets of tears, innocent people slaughtered. World War two was violent, brutal, homicidal, and just downright horrifying. Japan and the United States had been at war for four years from December 7 1941 to 9145 before the final bombs were dropped. The two atomic bombs were dropped from pearl harbor on December 7, 1941, and 15 days later Japan surrendered. To end the horrific ongoing crisis, Truman made a thought-through decision to allow the two bombs to be dropped. Although over fifteen hundred thousand individual’s lives were shattered, after the two final atomic bombs were dropped, when Japan surrendered millions of lives were saved, the Soviet Union had been intimidated into leaving Japan alone, and the war was no longer prolonged after four whole years of horror. …show more content…

Radiation was a big factor in the Japanese cities bombed; many people were burned or at least affected by the radiation from the bombs, “15 - 20 % died from injuries or illness attributed to radiation” (Document 8) people were seriously injured or died later in life from radiation poisoning. The long-term effects of the radiation were leukemia, cancer, and lung problems. Because of the radiation, well after the war had ended people were still very much affected. Imagine if Truman didn't drop the atomic bombs and ended the war, there would be even more suffering from many sources that would have affected even more
