Based on the text by Robert Morgan, I do not agree with Morgan’s central idea. Mogan is telling us westward expansion is a good thing. I do not agree that westward expansion is a good thing. Morgan believes westward expansion was made up by us, the people, and he thinks the government just followed along, but he is nowhere near right. The government brought about the westward expansion and Thomas Jefferson made it happen. No way did the government follow along with what the people wanted.

The white men would lie to the Indians and steal from them. The white men would try to take advantage of the indians. Chief Joseph says in the speech, “ I only ask of the Government to be treated as all men are treated,” by saying this he means he wants to live in a country where all men are treated equally. By forcing the indians to move away from their land is not an example of that. Lewis and Clark were the first white people who came to our country. President Thomas Jefferson sent out Lewis and Clark to explore the west and take notes on everything that they saw. He says in his public comment on the expedition’s return, on December 2, “ Lewis and Clark, and their brave companions, have, by this arduous service, deserved well of their country.” Lewis and Clark did as they were told. They went out and explored the west in hope to help Thomas Jefferson take it over.
All three of these text show us that Thomas Jefferson was the one that wanted westward expansion. It was not we the people, it was the government. The people did not lead, the people never lead and the government never fallows. The government always makes the decisions for the people, therefore Robert Morgan is wrong and i do not agree with his idea in his
