The latest Windows Operating System is Windows 10, which is a personal computer operating system. Windows 10 was developed and released by Microsoft as a part of the Windows NT family of operating systems.
Microsoft chose to skip Windows 9 as a way to discontinue with earlier versions and Windows 8 in particular instead of gradual change. Windows 10 is designed to address common criticisms of Windows 8, such as a lack of enterprise-friendly features and keyboard interfaces and poor integration of touch.
Microsoft described Windows 10 as a “universal apps” that is expanding on Metro-style apps, these apps is designed to run across multiple Microsoft product families with nearly identical code. This includes PCs, smartphones, tablets , embedded systems, Xbox One, and Surface Hub.
