Keep The Summers! Every school requires breaks throughout the year and days off on important holidays. Schools should require summer break for kids. You might not think much of this, but because of the high increase of schools taking away summer for many kids, it doesn’t improve learning. This is why schools should require summer vacation. While it is understandable that people could think summer takes away from learning and you could forget half of the things they learn over summer vacation I think it is actually not good for their education. Year round school makes it harder for kids to have fun or do any activities. As Tia McQueen said in Luke Towlers article “Districts Weigh Pros and Cons of Year round school” she stated “most people are very hesitant to year round schools” so schools should have summers if they’re not sure if they should require one or not. (Kairos) Kids shouldn’t have to take the rush into a small 45 day school schedule to a 15 day break. (Logos) During the time of the multi-track schedule, teachers often share rooms with other teachers while leaving or returning. Even though there is no class there yet from the other teacher, all the noise takes away from the kids learning. This explains why year round school doesn’t let kids learn as much as they possibly can. Well kids who are pushed into schools on summer can’t think straight. Now that you’ve heard one reason on why schools should have summer breaks, here is another reason why I think it’s important to have summer vacations. “Kids would dread coming to schools on hot summer days” said Becca Baiers from Adrian Johnson’s article “should students attend school year round?” The author Luke Towler from another article said kids would become eager to get outside and go to the beach, resulting in distracted students and frustrated teacher. Some schools provide a 30-day break but that is very few of them. Marcella Cox from Luke Towlers article again said “I don’t believe it’s more challenging, just different. They don’t realize it is putting a lot of effort on them to get to school on hot days. This shows the students need more to be outside because they would become angry or eager if they don’t get the chance to go outside. Students should have summers so kids can enjoy the weather and nature but not from a school
