Books over the centuries have had an influential impact on the lives of many. Arguably, there are none more influential than children’s books. Children’s books contain important life lessons and teach many children the basic values they will hold for the remainder of their lives. Examples of the best range from the well-known Dr. Seuss books, to the always-popular Winnie the Pooh books. The book contains sketches of fish and also different types of sea life. The images appear to be drawn with the scales of the rainbow fish being added after. Throughout the book, there are multiple colors that catch the eye of the viewer. Blues, reds, purples, and greens fill up each page, allowing the child to view them and follow along without feeling scared or threatened. The bright and shiny scales are enticing to the eye of the young reader as well. From the beginning, when the rainbow fish believes he is too beautiful to be friends with the other fish, to the end, where the rainbow fish shares his scales with them, colorful visuals are to follow this transformation. The images are a vital factor in which the young reader can visually picture how the plot is evolving. For young children especially, pictures that stand out are what grab their attention right away. The captivating visuals and descriptive context provide the story to be easily followed along while also being interested with what will happen next. Although the book is entertaining to the reader, The Rainbow Fish is filled with inspiring messages that are not limited their childhood years. They are messages that will follow them in all aspects of life. The book teaches children valuable lessons regarding friendship, selflessness, and kindness. While there are countless incredible children’s books to keep in mind, The Rainbow Fish deserves to have a reserved spot on the “Top 100 Children’s Books”
