Poe once said “Lord help my poor soul” The words of this author portray that he has gone through many hard things throughout his life and has influenced and shaped the author's writing. Edgar Allan Poe has had a very hard life due to the losses of many of his loved ones. This reflects his work because he expresses his emotions throughout his poems. Due to the fact that he has lost his loved ones, the author begins to feel alone and abandoned. Feeling alone and abandoned have been a recurring theme throughout Edgar Allan Poe's work especially “The Raven” and “Annabel Lee”.
