Initially, Macbeth was portrayed as a valiant warrior and a loyal servant to his King. Over the course of the play, Macbeth’s growing ambition was highly emphasized but it already exists prior to his hearing of the prophecy of the witches. The witches address Macbeth as the thane of Glamis, thane of Cawdor, and the future King of Scotland. Being a renowned warrior, his ego disregarded his gullibleness. The rubric bestowed to him by the witches lights the flicker inside of Macbeth that would slowly fuel his deep and unreliable aspiration. The thought of the prophecy makes Macbeth curious about the future as he finds him in conflict with himself.
