The Rise And Fall Of The Aztec Civilization

307 Words2 Pages
The Aztecs have been called “the last of the great Mesoamerican civilizations” (Leeming 230) as their civilization lasted for several centuries, and at the time of its demise was home to over six million people. The Aztec civilization resided in the Valley of Mexico; the capital city of Tenochtitlan was located where modern day Mexico City now stands. Their location in the Valley of Mexico, played a large role in the success of the Aztec, as the land itself led to protection from enemies and crop strength.
The valley provided the Aztecs with extremely fertile soil as the land was “fed by springs and short streams from the surrounding mountains (Davies 21)”. The Aztecs thrived in a mild climate, where the weather resembled that of spring.
