Rock and Roll Cola Wars The Rock and Roll Cola Wars was the rivalry between Coca-Cola and Pepsi. The “war” was between the two companies and their marketing strategies. It first started with Pepsi making advertisements called the Pepsi Challenge, where they showed people tasting Coke and Pepsi. The advertisement showed that people prefer Pepsi over Coke. The two companies have gone back and forth over the last 50 years. The “war” between the two companies will probably never end and their marketing teams will probably always make little jabs at the other. In fact, the two companies were still making jabs at each other at the 2019 Super Bowl during commercials.

He was born on March 26, 1875. In 1896, Rhee joined with other Korean leaders and created the group Independence Club, which was dedicated to making Korea independent from Japan. In 1898, the club was destroyed and Rhee was arrested. He was released in 1904 and went to the United States. He received a Ph. D. from Princeton in 1910, which made him the first Korean to earn a doctorate from an American university. He went to Hawaii and began working as a spokesperson for Korean independence, which is what he would do for the next 30 years of his life. In 1919, he was elected president of the Korean Provisional Government. He remained president for 20 years before being pushed out by the younger population. Then, after World War II, Rhee went back to South Korea and became the leader of the Republic of Korea in 1948, where he won the following three elections. He resigned from his position in 1960 and passed away in 1965.

Chubby Checker Chubby Checker is an American singer and dancer. He was born on October 3, 1941. He is known for dances that go along with his music, the most popular being the Twist. He had two albums that made it on the top ten in the United States. He also had two number one hit songs in the United States, The Twist and Pony Time. The Twist even has a chart re-entry, which is the only rock song to reach number one in the United States in two different years. He even won a Grammy for the Best Rock Performance in 1961.
