The novel The Road is about the relationship between a boy and his father after the apocalypse. The boy and the man struggle every day just to get a piece of food in their stomach to be able to stay alive. Staying alive after the apocalypse destroyed the planet that was once known to be Earth would be a major challenge and take a major toll on on the lives of those still surviving. You would have make decisions on whether or not you will become the “bad” or the “good” guys. In the novel the man and the boy often claim that they are “carrying the fire.” This symbolizes that after everything that has gone on in their lives, they are still holding onto the hope that everything will work out in the end. I want what everybody wants, to be happy, but there is one dream that I hold on to every bit of hope so that I will one day reach this dream. I want a husband. I want to find the love of my life who treats me that that I am his whole world. I want to love this man with all I am capable of. I want to go on dinner dates, road trips, walks in the park and even a night at home, but all of this could all simply be ruined in an instant. I want the acceptance of my family. My parents are the nicest and most compassionate people ever. I would like to say that they're not homophobic, but they are. Walking my house having to hide who I am so I don't receive a lecture of being “too girly” or “embarrassing towards the family.” The closet is quite dark in here but I will never give up. I will not let my parent dictate who I will become and who I will love. My dream is to express my sexuality the way I want and I will achieve this dream no matter how long it
